Valerie Anne Rebel, 62, of Hollidaysburg, died Monday morning at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was born in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Patricia A. (Murray) Rebel and the late William A. Rebel.
She married Dr. Terrence M. Smith on June 10, 1983, in Tacoma, Wash.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years; a son, Jason M. Smith, of Hollidaysburg; her mother, Patricia A. Rebel, of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; two sisters, Kathleen J. Hrezo (Brian) of Warner Robins, Ga., and Connie Rebel-Seapker (Tom) of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; her uncle and aunt, Dr. Ralph and Sally Kuhn, of Butler; and numerous extended family members and friends.
Valerie was a 1978 graduate of Avonworth High School, Pittsburgh, and a 1980 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine — Dental Hygiene Program.
She loved traveling and experienced many cultures around the world. In her travels, Valerie taught English to women and children in South Korea, where she was stationed with her husband.
She enjoyed reading and playing Jeopardy. Valerie was also an excellent baker and cook, and took great pleasure in sharing her meals with family and friends.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Aug. 8, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona.
Interment will be made at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
