Local organizations team up to provide free dental care – WSOC TV

GASTONIA, N.C. — Dental care can be expensive and unaffordable for some, but two local organizations have teamed up to provide the service for free.

“There are a lot of barriers to dental care,” said Amanda Stroud, president of the North Carolina Dental Society Foundation.

The nonprofit partnered with Mission of Mercy and City Church in Gastonia to hold the two-day mobile clinic. Hundreds of people visited the clinic Friday, and it will continue to be open through Saturday.

“Those number, you know, it’s too crazy for teeth. You never thought teeth would cost so much,” a person who visited the clinic said.

The clinic is being held at 3100 City Church Street in Gastonia on Friday and Saturday. Doors open at 6 a.m. and patients are treated on a first-come, first-serve basis.
