Leetonia BOE approves raises for tutors, aides | News, Sports, Jobs


LEETONIA – The Leetonia school board Wednesday night approved pay increases for tutors and aides as well as an addendum regarding dental coverage for employees.

The board approved a pay increase of 50 cents per hour for all Title tutors, Title aides and IDEA aides for the 2022-2023 school year. The board then approved Patti L’Italian as Title I coordinator at $135 per day, Catherina McCoy as a Title tutor, Gail Zoppelt and Rick Davis as Title aides and Lori Yuhaniak and Vanessa Lalama as IDEA aides.

Additionally, the board approved an addendum to the OAPSE agreement for dental coverage of 55 percent employee premium the first two years of the contract and 11 or 9 percent employee premium the third based on vitality wellness program/biometric screening. The board had to pass the motion due to an error in the original contract.

In other business, the board hired Maia Amato as a part-time assistant treasurer and granted supplemental contracts for the 2022-2023 school year to Christie Felger as junior high cheer advisor, Ryan Temple as junior high football coach and John Walsh III as assistant football coach.

The board also approved a one-year agreement with REDZONE Behavioral Health Services to provide a comprehensive approach to behavioral modification and change for all grades. The services provided will be at no cost to the district.

Additionally, the board accepted donation of $550 from Walt and Bonnie Newton to the Danny Davanzo Memorial Scholarship, $971 from Lawless Industries in memory of David Lawless to the annual Family Fun Festival and $500 from VFW Post 5532 to the band fund.

Also at the meeting, schools Superintendent Dennis Dunham reported the varsity baseball field was named Field of the Year for Division IV.

“[Buildings and Grounds Supervisor] Dan Favazzo and Brian Hollabuagh and the entire building and maintenance staff have done a fantastic job not just with fields, but inside (facilities), so it’s a nice honor,” Dunham said.
