The Laurel Health Centers are working diligently with community partners to support staff development as part of their mission to expand access to dental and family medicine services in the region, according to a recent press release.
To that end, Pennsylvania College of Technology and Laurel Health have teamed up to offer a local sponsorship opportunity to those interested in pursuing careers as a dental hygienist or licensed practical nurse (LPN).
Laurel Health will provide an annual grant-funded sponsorship for students accepted to Penn College’s dental hygienist and LPN programs to support the recruitment and training of new clinical staff, according to the press release.
The programs offer small class sizes, access to state-of-the-art equipment, and innovative programming that primes students for success as well as a guaranteed two-year job placement at a Laurel Health location to further their work experience and skillset, the press release said.
Grant funding for this sponsorship was supported by the Laurel Health Foundation.
Students applying for acceptance into one of those Penn College programs will be eligible to apply for the Laurel sponsorship funds. Preference will be given to candidates who live in Tioga, Bradford or Potter County.
Laurel Health will provide up to $12,500 in assistance per person. As part of the partnership, sponsored students will commit to providing at least two years of service at a Laurel Health location after graduation with the opportunity for permanent placement later, the press release said.
Sponsorship spots are limited, so interested candidates are encouraged to apply today. Sponsorship applications are due Aug. 31.
