Joanne Flint Gluck | Obituaries

Joanne Nancy Flint Gluck, 88, passed away peacefully May 21, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. Born in Hornell, N.Y., Feb. 10, 1934, to Kenneth and Elsie Flint (deceased).

Joanne was a Registered Dental Hygienist, graduated Erie County Technical School 1954. Worked in a private dental practice in Rochester, N.Y. Married the love of her life, David C. Gluck, March 16, 1957. Her career followed with two children, working in private dental practice, Smithtown, Long Island, N.Y. Was a founding member 1967, along with David (physical therapist) of the first Parkinson’s Disease Clinic, Smithtown, N.Y., volunteered for many years as the clinic still exists today.

David’s work took them to the Adirondacks and skiing where they lived in Warrensburg, N.Y., working at Adirondack Tri-County Nursing Home, where Joanne pursued her education in Director of Activities for Assisted Living and Care Facility. Next, they went to Cortland, NY, to be close to family and summer cottage in Avoca, N.Y. Joanne was then able to work as a dental hygienist with Eastman Dental Center, University of Rochester, in Ithaca and Trumansburg, N.Y. From there life took them to F.A.S.N.Y. Fireman’s Home, Hudson, NY, for 10 years. Joanne work as a Dental Hygienist and Director of Activities for residents of the home.

Retirement started in 1992, moving to Sarasota, Fla., thus becoming snowbirds with summers at Smith Pond, Avoca, N.Y. A couple of years later their winter home became Pine Lakes, North Fort Myers, Fla., and permanently September 2017. Enjoying life to its fullest with golf, bowling, softball, shuffleboard, cards, so many dear friends, 3 grandchildren and one great grandson.

Fellowship of church family with faith provided Joanne great comfort and strength through life’s challenges. She had many positions in her life with the Presbyterian Church and was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star, Olive Branch -509.

Predeceased by her older brother, Ret. Col. Robert Flint. Joanne is survived by her husband, David, C. Gluck; daughter, Debra (Chuck) Gluck Vitale, North Fort Myers, Fla.; Daughter Doreen Lee Platt, Batavia, N.Y., and Jacksonville, N.C.; grandchildren, LeeAnna Lee Platt Voice, Jacksonville, N.C. Surviving brother John Flint, Le Roy, N.Y.; surviving sister-in-law Sarah Flint, Penfield, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Hope Healthcare and/or Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, North Fort Myers, Fla.

Funeral services will be at Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church, North Fort Myers, FL 33903 on June 18, 2022, 2 p.m.
