Free dental clinic returning to Pueblo this fall

Regular dental care is vital to overall health, but seeing a dentist can be prohibitively expensive to those without insurance or financial means. A Colorado organization that sponsors annual free dental clinics is returning to Pueblo in September to take care of peoples’ smiles, “no questions asked.”

Up to 1,500 patients may receive care at the Pueblo clinic organized by the Colorado Mission of Mercy, scheduled for Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Colorado State Fairgrounds.

The organization has been around since 2007 and held clinics in Pueblo in 2017 and 2012.

The clinic will offer extensive dental care beyond teeth cleanings: participants will be able to get fillings, extractions, root canals, porcelain crowns and dentures at the event.

At the last Pueblo event in 2017, 40% of patients had been experiencing dental pain for more than a year, said Pam Dinkfelt, executive director of the organization.
