The long-awaited Worthington Gateway shopping center is drawing closer to completion, with the first tenants expected to take possession of their sites by December.
Worthington Gateway faces Wilson Bridge Road on the north and North High Street on the east in Worthington.
Daniel Clark of Goodman Real Estate Services Group LLC, which is handling the properties, said the latest tenants to commit to the site are the Five Guys restaurant chain, the Los Angeles based NOW massage boutique and the Worthington Dental Group.
NOW and Worthington Dental are expected to take possession by December, Clark said, with Five Guys coming in the first quarter of 2023.
Five Guys is to have 2,500 square feet, NOW with 2,861 square feet and Worthington Dental with 9,190 square feet, he said, adding that they will join other tenants already lined up: Orangetheory Fitness, Club Pilates and Tropical Smoothie Café.
Construction of all buildings and prospective tenants taking possession of the sites is expected to be completed in 2023, Clark said.
“The four buildings on Wilson Bridge are currently under construction and should be finalized by the end of first quarter 2023,” Clark said, and a 11,500-square-foot building facing High Street is expected to be finished in the second quarter.

“The single-story buildings will be completed first, but the 2-story buildings are not far behind,” he said.
Worthington Gateway cleared its last legislative approval from Worthington City Council in 2019, with construction expected to start that fall.
The COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic disrupted the project’s timetable.
In a 2021 permit application, developers said a target completion date was missed that year because of market uncertainty, supply-chain interruptions, financing issues and slow lead times caused by the pandemic.
In 2020, the pandemic’s conditions resulted in a Tru by Hilton hotel being dropped from the Worthington Gateway plan.
The pandemic was disrupting the hotel market for an estimated 18 months, said Ohm Patel, a developer connected with the project.
“We can’t wait to develop the hotel for another 18 months,” Patel said at the time.
