Escambia Children’s Trust board approves funding for multiple projects

The Escambia Children’s Trust this week answered taxpayers’ questions as to when it would finally start kicking its spending into high gear. 

The trust’s board approved multiple expenditures at a budget hearing and regular meeting Tuesday evening. The board also approved issuing requests for proposals for “Out-of-School Time” programs, which are community-based preschool, afterschool and summer learning programs intended to provide cognitive, social and emotional development.

Additionally, the board voted to change its millage rate and vetoed a handful of unsolicited grant proposals it received from Escambia County.

Taxes will stay flat 

The trust on Tuesday adjusted its millage rate from 0.5 to 0.4365.
