Dental Care Access Task Force to meet Wednesday in Dover

DOVER — The Dental Care Access Task Force will gather for its second meeting Wednesday.

The meeting will take place at 6 p.m. in the Joint Finance Committee Room at Legislative Hall. Members of the public can also attend by visiting here.

Aside from housekeeping items like opening remarks and confirmation of the previous meeting’s minutes, the agenda includes several presentations about dental care access for underserved populations and an ensuing discussion.

The group was created under Senate Bill 277, sponsored by Sen. Sarah McBride, D-Wilmington, and received bipartisan co-sponsorship from several members of the General Assembly. The legislation aimed to expand access to dental care for individuals in underserved communities and was signed by Gov. John Carney on Aug. 30.

The task force is comprised of several stakeholders involved in health care, dental care and assisting those in neglected areas. It also includes several lawmakers, such as chair, Sen. McBride; co-chair, Rep. Melissa Minor-Brown, D-New Castle; Rep. Bryan Shupe, R-Milford; and Senate Minority Leader Gerald Hocker, R-Ocean View.
