Read the article for the complete story, but in a nutshell, Hollywood has used a scream sound effect that was originally made in the 1951 movie Distant Drums starring Gary Cooper, in hundreds of movies since then. Everything from Star Wars, to Raiders of the Lost Ark, to animated movies and so on.

The clip above is a compiliation of a bunch of movies that have used this scream. Next time you’re in the movies, and you hear the scream, now you’ll know it was made by a guy 56 years ago.
