“We have found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, chemical weapons”
“Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent. Despite many efforts to locate and destroy Iraq’s pre-Gulf War chemical munitions, filled and unfilled pre-Gulf War chemical munitions are assessed to still exist.”
So these are the WMD’s 2,500 American Soldiers have died for huh?

The “WMD’s” Good ole Rick speaks of are degraded mustard shells that PRE-DATE The Gulf War. That’s THE GULF WAR, Remember that one? the one in 1991? Not the 2003 Invasion, but the one 15 years ago.
The Bush Administration commissioned Iraq survey group long ago discounted these so called “WMD’s” as being worthless junk almost 2 years ago…
While a small number of old, abandoned chemical munitions have been discovered, ISG judges that Iraq unilaterally destroyed its undeclared chemical weapons stockpile in 1991. There are no credible Indications that Baghdad resumed production of chemical munitions thereafter, a policy ISG attributes to Baghdad’s desire to see sanctions lifted, or rendered ineffectual, or its fear of force against it should WMD be discovered.
So once again we have a Republican “Leader” in Congress lying to the American public, and of course once again the Fascist News Network carries the lie as if it’s some kind of breaking news story. As if some crumbling 20 year old worthless mustard shells from the 1980’s somehow justified the whole fucking Trillion Dollar mess they got us into.

Sarin, Mustard Gas Discovered Separately in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq — A roadside bomb containing sarin nerve agent (search) recently exploded near a U.S. military convoy, the U.S. military said Monday.
Bush administration officials told Fox News that mustard gas (search) was also recently discovered.
Two people were treated for “minor exposure” after the sarin incident but no serious injuries were reported. Soldiers transporting the shell for inspection suffered symptoms consistent with low-level chemical exposure, which is what led to the discovery, a U.S. official told Fox News.

In a series of raids, the Jordanians said, they seized 20 tons of chemicals and numerous explosives. Also seized were three trucks equipped with specially modified plows, apparently designed to crash through security barricades.
The first alleged target was the Jordanian intelligence headquarters. The alleged blast was intended to be a big one.

Ok I spent way to much time looking into this today, but I did, and here’s the whole story. These WMD’s are munitions (shells) that were buried on the Iraqi/Iranian border in the 1980’s. They were artillary shells that held sarin and/or mustard gas that were used during the Iran/Iraq war in the 1980’s. Not only are these “WMD’s” no threat in 2006, or 2003, they couldn’t even be used during the 1991 Gulf War as any chemical warhead in these shells had long degraded by then. So what does it all boil down to? Nothing. It’s a non story. Goofyblog is correct, Fox is Wrong, and once again the right-winger liar types have been OWNED By reality and truth.

There is much more to the exit polls part of the article and many other episodes of cheating a vote shifting. Bottom line: Bush was not elected by a majority either of the people by vote or by electerol college in either 2004 or 2000. The evidence of cheating in 2004 is far more widespread than in 2000, however.

Those of you who have decided to comment with little to no knowledge of history, should understand that this disclosure by the Defense Department proves 1) that Iraq in fact violated 17 UN resolutions to disarm; 2) UN weapons inspectors are useless; 3) France and Russia had a larger than life role, which was again breaking UN sanction laws, in Iraq’s weaponry. This information was covered up by the Bush Administration to protect the two UN security council members, which the administration knew would be useful in dealing with Iran and North Korea. Iraq, Tax Cuts for the Wealthy, Run-Away Deficits, “Intelligent” Design, Restricting Abortions, all that right-winger bullshit they’ve been shoving down our throats has only been made possible because this country became very scared after 9-11. But the thing they don’t realize is this, Joe Six Pack, in the end, just wants to be left alone. And if you nudge and poke and prod Joe Six pack enough, if you tap his phone lines, raise his health care, kill his newphew in Iraq, teach his kids creationist bullshit, and get in his bedroom, then sooner or later Joe says “Enough is enough” and finally gets his fat ass to the voting booth. The right-winger types like T, or Rush Limbaugh, even mad-man Bill O’Reilly have done a great job over the past 10-15 years of convcining the Joe Six packs that the Democratics are the evils ones, that it’s the democrats who want to intefere with their lives, they’ve morphed “liberal” into a bad word.
But reality is setting in, the smoke and mirrors and more importantly, the LIES of the right-wing are blowing up in thier faces. The game they played could only go on for so long, and it was 9-11 that allowed them to tip the balance. But the lumbering army of millions of Joe Six-Packs are waking up to the reality that the right-wing agenda is nothing more than a hollow pack of lies. As Abraham Lincoln said “You can fool some of the people all of the time, and you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.”
Well, people like T are part of the some of the people who will be fooled all of the time, and that’s fine, they are a neccessary evil, but the time for fooling all of the people all of the time has run out, and I believe the Neo-Cons know this. That’s why you see more and more shrillness (Like the fake WMD Story on Fox) and insanity coming from these folks as they realize thier ship is sinking… and fast. The Distribution of the 2007+ tax cuts. 72% of the tax cuts go to the top 20% of income earners in the USA. And the top 1% is getting 29% of the tax cut (Which comes to a $930 Billion dollar tax cut for the richest of the rich). Meanwhile the middle class is getting an 8% tax cut with Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy.

There’s a good one. You mean Ansar al-Islam? They were the Al-qaeda in Iraq before we invaded. They had a base in Kurdistan, which we’ve known about since around 9/11. We partly protected them from Saddam with no-fly zones. You know, the Saddam we went in to take from power, yeah he hated all those religious fanatic al-Qaeda types. That was al-Qaeda in Iraq. We left their enclave alone in the rush to Baghdad, and told the Kurds to go check out their then evacuated base a few weeks later. Now they’ve dispursed around Iraq and lead attacks on our troops.
It’s distgusting. I listened to the news on the Iraq invasion for weeks after it began waiting to hear when we’d go after Ansar al-Islam, only to finally realize that we’d totally ignored them. It’s just like not sending enough troops to surround and capture Osama at Tora Bora. The Bush administration is either clueless or has no interest in actually protecting us from al-Qaeda.
Oh, and back to the original story, the only reason these ancient chemical weapons shells were dangerous is that they’re so old it isn’t safe to move them. They were so old Saddam probably didn’t want to mess with them either.
