Papal encyclical attacks atheism, promises hope

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict, in a new encyclical released on Friday, said atheism was responsible for some of the “greatest forms of cruelty and violations of justice” in history.

Hmm… Atheism… responsible for attrocities…hmm…right….

Maybe he’s speaking of the atheist crusaders?  ohhh no… hmmmm… 

Oh I know…  he’s talking about the Atheist inquisition?   Oh..wait.. no… hmmmm…

Wait.. I know, he’s talking about how the atheists sat on their hands during Hitlers “Final Solution” against the jews?

 

oh.. oh.. that’s right…. wasn’t them either….hmmmm….

(Hey…that looks familiar… didn’t Mr. Ratzinger belong to that organization? )

Maybe he’s not talking about history,  perhaps he’s talking about contemporary times, and how all those atheist are causing people to die of AIDS/HIV in the 3rd world by prohibiting condom use?

Is he talking about atheist suicide bombers?

What in the world is he talking about?

He must be speaking of all those hundreds of Atheists Priests who were having sex with young boys, and an organization that for YEARS protected these priests from prosecution?

Or, could he be speaking about all those Atheist hypocrites who preach against gays, yet have their own gay lovers, or have sex with gay prostitutes?

Or maybe he’s talking about all those atheist TV evangelists who have stolen millions and millions of dollars from old, homebound, lonely, stupid people? 

Or, perhaps he was talking about atheists promoting abstinence over safe sex education?

Or, he could be talking about those silly atheists and their promotion of “intelligent design” and building museums of ignorance that show humans living in peace with dinosaurs 6,000 years ago?

Just what is it you could be talking about Mr. Ratzinger?

oh wait… let me guess,  state-worship communist regimes of the 20th century, that were atheist by default as your allegiance was to the state and a cult worship of its leader (Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot,  etc.)    Quite a sad straw man to choose in an argument against those who prefer logic and reality over anointed old men wearing pointy hats who call the kettle black.
