Morning Cup 12/03/2007

Hey Goofs, time for a morning cup.
The Nominations are in for the BOSF II Contest (Babes of Science Fiction). I had hopped to have the voting poll up and running this weekend, but it was not to be, so the voting will begin next Monday, December 10th, and I’ll still accept nominations until Saturday night.
Also, a new “What in the world is this?” will be arriving shortly.
Are you looking for a new computer, Do you like deals?
I recently bought my first ever laptop, via the Dell Outlet center. A Dell Inspiron 1720. I’m telling you this not because I’m a shill for Dell, but because my friend Phil turned me onto the Dell Outlet center, allowing me to purchase a $2,000 Laptop for $1,300 bucks. It’s refurbished, which basically means new, same warranty and everything. I highly recommend going that route if you’re looking for a new Dell computer; it’s a huge savings with zero risk.
Out there in the world…
Kudos to Helen Thomas, 87 years old and still kicking ass. Over on Crooks and Liars there’s a great video of her making the White House look like fools, again.
Ever wonder who clicks on the ads you find on websites? (Such as the ones on this very blog), well, apparently no one. According to this recent research, only 1% of web users do, and the ones who do are predominantly older women living in the Midwest and New England who are looking for sweepstakes offers and love to talk to telemarketers. Now I’m not sure how scientific this research was, but think about it. If no one is clicking on these ads, and it’s verifiable that no one is clicking on these ads, you can say goodbye to Googles billions, and the foundations of the entire web 2.0 economy.
Wouldn’t that be something if we woke up one day to realize this billion dollar cyber advertising economy was more or less a big ole hoax?
I know I never click on ads, do you?
And last but not least….
If you’re South Park fan, you MUST watch this episode, it has to be my favorite from this season, if not all time.
