Morning Cup 07/31/2006

Hello from Nawhlins!
I’m in New Orleans for work this week, so Goofyblog may be a bit sporadic, but I’ll do my best to keep the blog fresh and goofy for you.
So far I haven’t seen any sign of Katrina’s wrath, although I’m sure it’s out there. But from where I’m staying (The Marriot on Canal Street , 2 blocks from Bourbon) you don’t see any sign of last summer’s disaster.

This is my first trip to the Big Easy, so walking down Bourbon on my first night here was quite an eye opener. If you’ve never seen it for yourself, Imagine 20 blocks in a row of Neon lit bars, strip clubs, restaurants, dance clubs, live music, frat boys and “Girls gone wild” Mixed with the smell of stale beer and puke. It’s crazy every night; I can’t imagine what it must be like on Mardi gras.
I love the architecture here, Canal Street reminds me a lot of O’Connell Street in Dublin, and the French Quarter is quite a gem with its narrow little streets, balconies, and brick buildings.
Well that’s all for now, I’ll return to commenting on all the crappy news in the world in tomorrows Morning Cup.
