Afternoon Cup - 4/02/2007

Welcome to another afternoon cup.
So that moron John McCain went on an hour long tour of the market square across the street from the Green Zone and declared it “Safe” and that progress was being made in Iraq.

(A nice afternoon stroll in Baghdad)
Of course he failed to mention that it was safe for him because he was escorted by 100 troops, and a few blackhawk helicopters. Meanwhile, just another day in Iraq of bombings, murder and mayhem.
Huzzah to Senator Reid for not giving up on de-funding the war in Iraq, and not giving into the nonsense that if you don’t support the war, you don’t support the troops. What a bunch of right-wing bullshit.
These same Republican Troop hater types who want to keep the cannon fodder express going are the very same ones who voted to DE-FUND America’s involvment in Somalia back in 1993. Talk about Lying hypocritical Republicans. Then again, would you really expect anything better from these guys?
Even Conservatives are ashamed of the Administration. Students and faculty at BYU are protesting Dick Cheney giving the commencement speech at graduation ceremonies this spring.
Vermont may be looking to secede from the Union. Sounds good to me, the only thing that may end the corruption of what this country has become would be to disband it and try something else. Another seccession movement called the Cascadia Independence Project can be found here, this would form a new nation out of Northern California, Oregon, Washington State and British Columbia. If you read the points they make on the web site, I think most of them are valid and make a lot of sense.
Nothing lasst forever, and in my opinion the USA stopped being the USA sometime after World War II. The Nation we have today doesn’t even respect it’s own Constitution, Don’t cry for something that no longer exists.

As Amy Goodman says in today’s podcast of DemocracyNow, 80 US troops died in March, double the number of Iraqi military killed, while the deaths of Iraqi civilians went up 15% above February’s death toll to over 2,000. And last week’s suicide truck bomb in Telafar killed over 600, making it the single most deadly incident in the entire Iraq war.
