Outhouse facade part of museum

A $420,000 extension to Wairoa’s museum has included the facade of an old outhouse, in what its curator dubs “a museum within a museum”.

The 190sq m extension almost doubles the museum’s floor space in the former ANZ Bank on Marine Parade. It now carries a New Zealand Historic Places Trust level two classification. The outhouse once stood in a gravel yard behind it.
